Drawing Tips
How to Sketch Kristen Stewart:

  • In general, softer pencils (2B, 4B, 6B) are better suited for making softer textures such as rendering hair and creating skin tones
  • Harder pencils (H, 2H, 4H) are better suited to detail work and lighter shading
  • You can use a kitchen towel or tissue to blend the tones to build a soft foundation for her skin, then work over the foundation with more pencil marks
  • In this photo of Kristen Stewart her hair is feminine and wispy. Rather than trying to draw every strand of hair individually, focus on the tones instead, see how one tone moves from light to mid and from mid to dark, this will create a more realistic look
  • Use a sharp medium pencil (B, H, F) to pencil in  Kristen’s eyelashes and eyebrows
  • See the section called “Building up Shadows” in our guide on “How to Shade Your Portrait” for help.
