Tips on How to Draw Pink:

  • See the demo of this drawing of Pink step-by-step here.
  • Keep the light areas of her eye white and clean by clearly outlining those areas with a sharp, hard pencil, then shading in around those areas.
  • Then use a soft 2B or 4B pencil to shade in the dark eye make-up. Build up the layers using shading and cross hatching.
  • See the section called “Building up Shadows” in our guide on “How to Shade Your Portrait” for help.Use soft pencil strokes and blending to achieve the smooth shadows that define her cheekbones.
  • Notice the contrast in the edges of the shadow beneath Pink’s chin. The edge under her chin is more crisp and defined than the other edge that meets her neck. Use a softer 2B or 4B to create the subtle fade on the outer edge.
  • Use a cross-hatching shading effect with a hard pencil (F, H, 2H) to get the texture of her eyebrows.
